CAMPS IN THE DESERT

Volunteer counsellors 15-17 years old must have an accompanying guardian signed up as a volunteer.

Have experience teaching English as a second language? Worked as a camp counsellor before?
Look forward to participate sand sledding, camel riding, jeep riding (18+) on the sand?
You will help teach, coach, and lead activities for Chinese kids at our camp.

- Free food and accommodation, transportation between Baotou Airport and the desert resort.
- You need to pay for your own flight to Baotou, China airport. And optional guided tour in Beijing.

- Please arrange your travel insurance before travelling.

- No refund is provided due to the amount of administrative work involved. However should you not able to attend, your space can be replaced by someone else. We will update the information from new attendance.

- Please sign up for at least two volunteer positions when you register on Eventbrite.

Volunteer campers must be accompanied by a guardian 18 years or older. After registering for your child, please also register yourself as a volunteer camper HERE.

Our summer camp will provide fun actives such as bonfire, sand sledding, camel riding (under guardian's supervision), Jeep riding (under guardian's supervision), camping in the desert, calligraphy, Chinese paper art, trip to Mongolian farms, cooking, gardening, tending the farm animals.
English speaking campers will help Chinese campers on developing English speaking skills.

The guided tour requires a minimum of 20 participants. The tour guide will pick you up at the Beijing Capital International Airport on July 15, 2020. When the tour ends, the tour guide will drop you off at the same airport to board the plane to Baotou Airport. Once you arrive at Baotou Airport, you will board our summer camp bus, and will arrive in the desert in around one hour.

Day 1- Beijing

Upon arrival in Beijing, the capital city of China, you will be warmly greeted at the airport by the tour guide and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2 - Beijing (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner)

Beijing has served as the capital of five dynasties over a period of 800 years. Today, visit Tiananmen Square, the second largest public square in the world, and the Forbidden City, the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming to Qing dynasty. Tour the exquisite Summer Palace, the largest preserved ancient imperial garden in China, and a former summer resort for Emperors. Then, visit a Tong Ren Tang to learn about traditional Chinese medicine, which has existed for thousands of years. Tonight, you can choose to attend an optional tour with dinner, a large-scale dramatic musical-"The Golden Mask Dynasty" ($65/RMB345).

在过去的800多年里，北京一直是五个朝代的首都。今天，参观天安门广场，世界上第二大的公共广场，和紫禁城，中国从明朝到清朝的皇宫。游览精致的颐和园，中国最大的保存最完好的古代皇家园林，是古代皇帝的避暑胜地。然后，去同仁堂学习中医，它已经存在了几千年。今晚，您可以选择参加大型音乐剧《金面具王朝》(65加币/ 350元)。

Day 3 - Beijing (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner)

Today's highlight is an excursion to the majestic Great Wall, the most famous image of China, and a chance to climb a portion of this 3,700-mile marvel. Visit one of the largest Jade Exhibitions in Asia enroute. After lunch, see skilled artisans at work at a Cloisonné" Factory. Then we will pass by modern exteriors of the Bird's Nest and Water Cube. Your dinner banquet includes the local delicacy, Peking Roast Duck.

Day 4 - Beijing (Breakfast), Departure

Enjoy the day at leisure or join an optional Temple of Heaven & Hutong Life tour with lunch ($79/RMB435). Temple of Heaven, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest. Then take a famous rickshaw Hutong Tour & Local Family Visit, this package also includes a traditional Beijing Zhajiangmian (“Fried Sauce Noodles”) as lunch. Hutongs are traditional alley ways that made up Beijing’s old city planning, take a special rickshaw ride for an immersive tour to get a wonderful glimpse into yesterday’s world, the old way of life and traditional Beijing culture, and see the dramatic changes the city has undergone, continue to visit a local family and local market afterwards.

In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport and fly to the next destination.
